Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 30, 2026

Red Trail Wanderers ("we," "us") operates this website to share trail programs, maps, and related information. This policy describes what information we collect and how we use it.

Information we collect

  • Contact and program forms. When you submit a contact message, questionnaire, or award application, we store the information you provide (such as name, email, phone, and message content) so we can respond and administer programs.
  • Account data. If you have an admin account, we store credentials needed to sign you in (email and hashed password).
  • Map pins. Pins you drop on the Onteora GPS map are stored in your browser on your device only. We do not receive those pins on our servers.
  • Technical data. Standard web logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) may be collected by our hosting provider as part of operating the site.

How we use information

We use submitted information to answer inquiries, run scouting and trail programs, review award applications, and maintain the website. We do not sell your personal information.

Sharing

We may share information with volunteers or affiliated organizations (such as the Onteora Alumni Association) only as needed to respond to you or operate programs. We may disclose information if required by law.

Cookies and sessions

Signed-in admin sessions use cookies/tokens required for authentication. The public map may use browser storage for your pins. We do not use advertising trackers on this site.

Data retention

Form submissions and account records are kept as long as needed for program administration or as required by law. You may request deletion of your contact submissions by emailing us.

Children

This site is intended for scouting leaders, alumni, and families. Parents or guardians should submit forms on behalf of minors where appropriate.
