Guide to Attending OAA/RTW Events

Follow these steps before fall reunion, OSR work weekends, or RTW trails work.

Required for everyone

  1. Create an account with My.Scouting

    Go to my.scouting.org.

  2. Complete the Safeguarding Youth Protection Course

It is online, runs about 90 minutes, and is required for all events at Onteora. Start here: training.scouting.org/learning-plans/2025.

When you receive your certificate of completion, print a copy or keep one on your phone in case there are any questions.

  3. Complete and print Scouting Medical Form, Parts A & B

Download the form: Scouting Medical Form (Parts A & B). Bring the completed medical forms with you.

Fall reunion only

If you are only attending the fall reunion, you are done with paperwork. Register and pay for the weekend here: Fall reunion registration.

Work weekends & RTW trails work

If you are attending a work weekend at OSR and/or an RTW trails work event, you must also be registered with Scouting. The easiest way is through a local unit if you still have any connections — they can put you on the unit committee. If not, register through TRC for the national Scouter Reserve.

Before you start registration

You must complete the Safeguarding Youth Protection Course first (see link above). Do not wait until the last minute — the next step takes time.

  1. Complete the Scouter Reserve Adult Application

The form can be completed online and printed, or printed and filled in by hand: Scouter Reserve Adult Application (524-501).

  2. Mail your packet to Theodore Roosevelt Council

Send the completed Scouter Reserve form, your Safeguarding Youth certificate, and a check for $65 to:

    Kevin Shea
    Theodore Roosevelt Council, BSA
    544 Broadway
    Massapequa, NY 11758

If you need to reach Kevin, text Gabe, Jim, or Mike for his phone number.
